This highly-anticipated movie not only features Alia as the solo lead after her successful stint in “Gangubai Kathiawadi,” but it also introduces Vedang Raina alongside her. While “Jigra” is primarily a rescue drama that explores the intense love between siblings, reports have emerged that Alia underwent extensive sports training for her role. Specifically, she had to learn basketball for the Vasan Bala directorial.
According to a recent report by Etimes, a source revealed that Alia Bhatt dedicated herself to understand the game of basketball. Her training included sessions with some of the best players in the city. Alia and Vasan wanted the basketball sequences to look authentic because they play a significant role in the film’s storyline.
It is said that Alia went the extra mile and put in additional hours to familiarize herself with the game and its rules. She focused on learning the fundamental movements crucial to basketball, such as dribbling, double dribbling, passing, and dunking the ball into the basket. To ensure utmost authenticity, the filmmakers even hired a specialized basketball coach who was present on set to choreograph the basketball-related scenes.
“Jigra” is produced by Alia Bhatt herself under her banner, Eternal Sunshine Productions, in association with Dharma Productions. This film marks Vedang Raina’s second venture after his debut in “The Archies.” Fans can mark their calendars for September 27, as that’s when “Jigra” is scheduled to hit the screens.
