Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl – Delhi High Court asks Gunjan Saxena If her Image was Tarnished

Ever since the film Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl was released on Netflix, the movie has made news in the media for various reasons. Right from being targeted to a star kid film to tarnishing the image of the lady pilot, it made news for many reasons. The film also came to light for the controversy created around it when the India Air Force claimed that the movie had a couple of objectionable contents.

In a sense, it has even tarnished the image of the Indian Air Force, the defense body.  In fact a petition has been submitted as well in the Delhi High Court. Even the lady Gunjan Saxena was asked to file a petition in the court saying that she was shown in a bad light. The film was aired on Netflix on 12th August 2020. The plea claimed that there are some dialogues, which certainly do not make any sense. Some scenes were factually incorrect that relate to the character of the former Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena.

They claimed that some of the officers in the film were showcased with misogynist roles, which have made a wrong narrative about them in the media. One of the NGOs based in Delhi called Justice For Rights Foundation also feels the same as those who have filed the petition. Now, hearing on this issue, the Court said that if the former IAF officer Gunjan Saxena has some issues against the film, she is free to share the same to the court. The film has showcased the issue of gender discrimination, which is not the case in real in the Indian Airforce.
