Adipurush Surpasses Rs 240 Crore Worldwide at the Box Office on Day 2, Defying Negative Reviews and Fan Protests
Om Raut’s highly-anticipated mythological epic, Adipurush, hit theaters on June 16 to much fanfare. The film, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, made an impressive debut at the box office, grossing Rs 140 crore worldwide on its opening day. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, it continued its strong performance on the second day, collecting Rs 65 crore across all languages in India. Adipurush also performed well in the Hindi market, amassing Rs 37 crore in just two days. In the Telugu states, the film grossed Rs 26 crore on its second day.
Despite facing criticism and trolling, particularly regarding its visual effects and dialogues, Adipurush managed to defy the negative reviews and protests. In Chhattisgarh’s Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district, a protest demanding a nationwide ban on the film’s screening took place. However, T-Series reported that Adipurush achieved a gross worldwide total of Rs 100 crore on the second day, bringing its two-day global earnings to Rs 240 crore. This surpasses Pathaan’s two-day gross of Rs 219 crore.
Adipurush’s opening day collection ranks fourth among all-time worldwide box office grosses. The top three films on the list are RRR with Rs 222 crores, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion with Rs 214 crores, and KGF: Chapter 2 with Rs 164.5 crores.
Based on the epic Ramayana, Adipurush showcases Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana. With an estimated budget of Rs 500 crore, the film also features Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage in significant roles. Check the updates coming on Twitter as under:
