In the current times of COVID 19, one can see too many film releases getting affected. The makers now have OTT platform as their ray of hope for releasing their film. Just when the makers of the Akshay Kumar starrer film Sooryavanshi had confirmed about their release on the OTT platform, we heard similar things about the Ranveer Singh Starrer film 83. Both the films have been produced by Reliance Entertainment, and in the recent statement by the CEO, the movies are going to have a release on an OTT channel only.Â
As per Mr.Shibasish Sarkar, the CEO of Reliance Entertainment claimed that they were looking for a theatrical release for both the films. However, at the very juncture, the makers are not willing to push the release date beyond November or December. Hence the only option they have at the moment is to rely on the OTT platform release only. As for considering a theatrical release, they have to wait a long time. Both the films were supposed to release in April, but with the lockdown announced by COVID 19, it was not practical for them to wait that long.
This will be the first time when the makers – Reliance Entertainment is looking for an OTT release for their films. This certainly includes Kabir Khan’s film 83. Earlier, the makers of 83 were not willing to go for an OTT route, but with the current plight still dragging, opening up the cinema in the coming few months is not going to work. Hence they have finally made up their mind to release both the movies on OTT. However, which one to go, they are yet to decide upon the same.
